Hollywood;bets award season---MICHELLE WILLIAMS
The Oscar-nominated actress (for My Week With Marilyn)
never looked better than at the Academy Awards, perfectly blending
vintage glamour with modern style in a peplum Louis Vuitton frock,
accessorized with a light pink Bottega Veneta clutch, a 30-carat Fred
Leighton for Forevermark choker and 19th century Fred Leighton bow
brooch at the waist.
JESSICA CHASTAIN---Dresses of Awards Season
After bursting onto the scene in 2011, the redhead was a red carpet fixture thanks to her turns in two nominated films, The Tree of Life and The Help. At the BAFTAs,
she proved she's worthy of all the adulation in a Grecian-inspired
metallic Oscar de la Renta gown, sparkly platforms and a
platinum-and-diamond Harry Winston necklace.
Robert Pattinson
- Name
- Robert Pattinson
- Date of Birth
- May 13, 1986
- Birth Place
- London, England, U.K.
- Move over Zac Efron!
British import Robert Pattinson has arrived, and the reaction is
Beatles-like. With his signature tousled mop and brooding stare,
Hollywood's newest heartthrob has tongues wagging, mobs stalking, and tweens begging.
Pattinson first made his mark on American audiences as hunky Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. But his casting as Edward Cullen, the beautiful vampire at the center of the best-selling Twilight Saga, has turned the man dubbed R.Pattz into the apple of every teen girl's eye.
Twilight's record-breaking opening has paved the way for more sequels for Pattinson and costars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. - How Harry Met Cedric
Pattinson skyrockets to international fame as ill-fated Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
"The day before I was just sitting in Leicester Square, happily being
ignored by everyone," he says at the film's London premiere. "Then
suddenly strangers are screaming your name. Amazing!" Director Newell
says, "Pattinson was born to play the role; he's quintessentially
English with chiseled public-schoolboy good looks."
Bloody Gorgeous
From handsome wizard to dashing vampire, Pattinson covers EW as Edward Cullen, the immortal hero of Twilight, with costar Kristen Stewart. Portraying the brooding vampire, described as "devastatingly inhumanly beautiful" in author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight book series, came with daunting expectations for Pattinson. "I stopped reading [blogs] after I saw the signatures saying 'Please, anyone else,'" the actor says of "Twilighters" initially protesting his casting.
Age and Beauty: The Best of Over 40 Style Leaders in 2011
Our exclusive one-on-one interviews with Hollywood's Elite
Helen Mirren is a style trendsetter
The best part of interviewing Helen Mirren is when she walks into a room. You just never know how amazing she will look. I'll never forget our last talk in New York where she was just wearing a gray skirt and a tight red cashmere sweater. Of course, after you marvel that her silver hair is so shiny, so full, so swingy then..... you start thinking about buying a red sweater. Of course, the best part of talking to her is that Mirren dazzles you with her wit, charm, and smarts. She is in one word: amazing.
Brooke Shields Without Makeup
It's nice to see what women really look like.
I had to do a double take. Was this really Brooke Shields?
The Brooke Shields of Calvin Klein fame? Brooke Shields who is several years younger than I am? And was she on the red carpet without makeup (or at the very least, minimal makeup she had done herself?)I'm so used to seeing spackled and heavily made up celebrities (like the whole Kardashian clan) that when a natural beauty comes along, it's somewhat shocking.
But here's Brooke Shields, in all her natural glory, looking like most of us moms do every day.
She's got real skin, real lines, real dark circles. She's not airbrushed or fake looking. I love it.
One of the most difficult things about grower older is coming to grips with our changing looks. On the one hand, 50 really is the new 40: we are vital, active, young in spirit and appearance. With a little maintenance, clean living and a few medical interactions (like injections and nip/tucks) we can cheat looking as middle-aged as our mothers did.
But on the other hand, all that work to keep looking young takes its toll. It's expensive. Some of it – like makeup and fashion tricks – are fleeting, short-term fixes. The reality is that most of us – without the benefit of a professional makeup artist on staff – wake up looking (on our good days) like Brooke Shields does without makeup.
One of my favorite features in the gossip mags is the stars without makeup photo section. We are all smart enough to know that stars without makeup look like totally different people (I once sat at a table next to Kim Kardashian sans her makeup and argued with everyone – even the waitress – that it definitely was NOT HER – the waitress then verified it through her credit card receipt that it actually was.)
The reason I love to see celebs without their makeup – especially those in our age range – is because it's refreshing to be reminded of how much of what we see celebritywise is good lighting, flawless professional makeup and photoshopping.
Too Old for a Shorts Suit?
Sheila E and Michelle Williams face off in red carpet shorts.
Despite a 20+ year age difference, both Michelle Williams and Sheila E both opted for a shorts suit on the red carpet. Is there an age limit for this look?
Most recently, 31-year-old Michelle Williams showed her buttoned-up version of the boyish short shorts at the Independent Spirit Awards.
But earlier in the month, 54-year-old Shiela E showed off her legs in a white shorts suit at the Grammy awards. So who wore it better?
Granted, both celebs were going for an entirely different look: Michelle Williams played off her gamine appeal with a tomboyish, minimalist take on the shorts suit. While Sheila E went with an all-white version that was definitely on the glam side.
Both Michelle Williams and Sheila E have the legs to pull it off.
So the question:, Is there an age limit on when you can successfully wear a shorts suit on the red carpet without looking like you are trying to hard?
Look Younger tips-Wear Polka Dots
While some prints can be aging , polka dots will actually make you look younger.
There are some crazy combinations out there in polka dots (like lime and pink), but think about going with classic- or a slight variation from the classic- for your polka dot look.
Try a black and white polka dot or a navy and cream polka dot: the crisp graphic appeal of a dark and light neutral give the polka dots a fresh look.
If you aren't ready to go with a big piece in dots, like a dress (see Nanette Lepore in her dress), try just peek of dots. Opt for a polka dot shell like Toni Collette is wearing under a jacket. Or look for polka dot accessories like ballet flats or a polka dot handbag.

Oscar Wear: Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep has been sticking to Iron Lady-wear for her awards-collection season-steel tones of gray, and black lace.
Would not it be nice to see her bust out in a splash of color? The pink
Jenny Packham would flatter her waistline, and the red Carolina Herrera
is not dissimilar from other styles she's worn, plus it covers her arms,
and has pockets.
Look Younger, Tip #18: Wear a Scarf
Want an easy way to look younger that looks great even on fat days and in most cases costs less than $50?
Try a scarf.
Not the same silky scarf-print ties that you folded into a triangle 25 years ago, mind you.
The newest scarves come in long rectangles that can be worn folded and wrapped multiple ways.
A scarf is a great way to not only add a youthful, streetwise touch, it's also a way to add texture, color and print to your wardrobe.
Look for fun prints or flattering colors (like pink) to wear close to your face.
The easiest, and most popular way, to wear a scarf is to take a long scarf, place in front of your throat, toss the ends over your back, cross and bring the ends back in front and leave them loose to dangle.
