Penelope Cruz Honored with Hollywood Star

   

Academy Award-winning actress Penelope Cruz received the 2,436th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, seven weeks before the release of her latest film, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.The 36-year-old actress hails from near Madrid, Spain and made her acting debut on Spanish television when she was 16.

She made her feature film debut in 1992 in “Jamon, Jamon,” which also starred her future real-life husband, Javier Bardem, as her love interest. The couple recently celebrated the birth of their first child, a boy.
Cruz has close ties with Spanish director Pedro Almodovar. The pair have worked together on numerous films including the 2000 Foreign Language Oscar winner “All About My Mother.”
Cruz received the first of her three Academy Award nominations for her role in the 2006 film “Volver.” She won a best supporting actress Oscar in 2009 for her performance in “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.” She is the first Spanish actress to be nominated and win an Academy Award.
