Sarah Michelle Gellar was born on 14 April 1977 in New York City. When
she was only 4 years old Sarah appeared in a Burger King commercial as
well as in her first movie Invasion of Privacy, which attracted the
attention of the film agents who saw little Sarah's big potential. Soon
Sarah began a career in the theater but also starred in TV shows
including Spenser: For Hire, Love, Sidney, The David Letterman Show, and
The Regis Philbin Show. Sarah starred in the soap opera Swans Crossing,
which quickly launched her career and she appeared in All My Children.
Her major breakthrough, though, came in 1996 with the film Buffy the
Vampire Slayer. In 1997 Sarah starred in I Know What You Did Last
Summer, for which she won a Best Supporting Actress award, and was
chosen one of the 40 TV Most Fascinating Stars. She was also in the top
10 of the People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People chart. Her face
appeared in 50 different magazines. In 1998 Sarah was nominated for an
MTV Movie Award in the Breakthrough Performance category. In her spare
time Sarah practises ice skating, scuba diving, kickboxing and tae kwon
do.
